More Power in Your Game

GENERATE POWER AT SETUP

We all want more power and distance.  Regardless of whether you hit the ball 200 or 300 yards, adding an extra 10-15 yards to your driver gives any player confidence and a decisive advantage over the competition.  Over the years as I have taught online golf lessons, many golfers have emailed me consistently with a breakdown of distance per club. They also provide where they would like to get to; usually 10-15 yards increase off the tee and from the fairway w/ their irons. The following tip is recommended to players who want an easy way to generate greater distance off the tee.I do not recommend this set-up from the fairway or around the green, but will give you and extra 10-15 yards off the tee. The is a simple breakdown including different ways that power and distance is generated in our golf swing (I want you to understand what generates power):

  • Solid Ball Contact:  Not on heel or toe.
  • Hand Rotation through the impact zone.
  • Weight shift through the ball.
  • Follow Through position: This is more of a check point.Club face up at follow- through = less power.Club face down at follow-through = greater power.

Problem Lack of distance off the tee. Solution I am going to teach you a modified set-up that will allow for maximum power generation.Normally golfers that have a slight draw generate more distance than golfers that hit a fade, so this set-up will put you in a position to hit a draw. This is also true for PGA tour playersrs.  The following, are steps to modify your set-up in order to allow for maximum distance generation:

  • Go through your normal set-up routine as we teach in the DVD.And don’t foget to bend at the hips and not the stomach.
  • Close your stance:  Move your trailing foot back so that the toes are parallel to the middle of your leading foot.
  • Put a little more weight on your front foot:  Instead of 50/50 you’ll have 60% on your leading leg and 40% of your weight on your trailing leg.  Essentially you’ll almost be leaning a little forward at set-up.
  • Knee bend stays the same and take your normal swing, focusing on really shifting your weight and rotating your hands through the impact zone.

These modifications place your body in a very powerful position at set-up. And don’t forget, only implement this set-up off the tee.  You can try it with your irons on the practice range, and if you see amazing results then play with it on the course, but please don’t change your entire set-up for your irons.  This tip is simply a modification to add extra distance off the tee. Fix Golf Slice – Add Yards To Your Drives

November 20, 2009 by Ram

Studies reveal over 80% of all amateur golfers slice the ball.  There have been more training aids, drills and tips to fix the golf slice that I can’t even begin to count. Fix golf slice is a thought on many amateur golfers’ minds.

What a frustrating situation!  Do you realize what’s causing your golf slice? If you hit a golf slice, have you taken lessons; bought any training aids, and done several drills only to still hit a slice?

Upon first thought, this may seem like a mechanical issue.  And it is…but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find it’s a ‘physical’ issue. A golf slice is caused by the clubface coming across the ball from outside the target line, creating side-spin on the ball.

If your body has ‘physical limitations’, your swing will not be mechanically sound and swing faults will appear. You see…your body dictates your ability to swing the club efficiently.

In the golf swing there are many compensations for lack of proper mechanics.  If you can’t make a 90 degree shoulder turn on the backswing, you’ll do whatever it takes to feel like you are making a full turn.

A good example of this would be to rotate your hips beyond the desired 45 degrees to enable your body to make a full backswing.  What this does is rob you of power.  You have no torque built up in your core to unleash into the ball at impact.

A golf slice is caused by the upper body getting ahead of the lower body, creating an “over-the-top” move, which in turn results in your clubface slashing across the ball and creating side-spin.  Here comes the banana ball!

Your first inclination will be to take a lesson to fix this.  If that doesn’t work, you might buy a training aid.  If that doesn’t work you’ll buy an “offset” driver to help eliminate your golf slice.

Don’t buy anymore training aids.  And keep your normal driver in your bag. Now the real answer!  Take a break on your lessons.

It’s that simple.  The minute your able to separate the upper and lower body upon initial move down…you’ll see that golf slice improve dramatically. You need to work on you core rotational flexibility to be able to initiate the downswing with your lower body first, to avoid the upper body getting ahead of it.

Along with fixing your golf slice, you’ll add up to 30 yards to your drives.  You will get more roll when the ball lands from a draw ball flight.  A golf slice is a weak shot that does not penetrate the air for maximum distance.

You will not experience compensations on the golf course anymore. All of my programs, dvds, and books focus on core rotational strength and flexibility which will improve your power output and eliminate swing faults.

You will finally eliminate the thought, “fix golf slice”. When you work on your “machine”, your golf swing takes care of itself!

Golfing has been a loved game since its creation.  What began as a hobby has turned into a sport now seen all around the world and publicized on channels like ESPN.  Watching as the golfing club swings easily at that white tiny ball has made us fall in love with this game.

A great golf club set can be the difference between a good game and a bad game.  The golf club set you use needs to be designed to fit the way you play the game as well as to your body type.  No particular set of golf clubs is going to be ideal for everyone.

You can buy a golf club set from pretty much anywhere.  The cost of the set will range usually anywhere from $170 and can go as high as a couple of thousand dollars.  Golfing has been a game which has been loved for years and has grown in appreciation.  In the earlier days, you failed to see very many shops selling golf items.

Now, there is a golf store in pretty much every town.  A good way to narrow down a good golf club set is to check out the golf club reviews.  These reviews will take individual clubs as well as the entire golf club set and let you know what people who have tested them thought about the club.  Was it good for long fairway shots?  Was the putter superb for helping you get that hole in one? Acuity golf clubs are two of name brands that are quite popular these days along with Knight golf clubs.

If you’re going to invest lots of cash into a set of clubs then you want to make sure it is a set that’s going to be worth what you paid for it.  A good golf club set can get very pricey but it is an investment in your love for the sport.

Nowadays, you can purchase golf clubs either in a shop or on the Internet.  Naturally, if you’re making a purchase online you won’t be ready to test the product first.  In this case it is very important to make sure that you have previously tested the same name brand and style of clubs before you buy them.

You don’t want to get the set and then realize it was not what you wanted or doesn’t work for the way you play the game.  Just as a bow hunter has to have a bow that is designed to suit them, so does a golfer have to have a set of golf clubs that it designed for them.

Golfing if a favored sport and it is growing day by day not only in fans but in players also.  Outlets of golf club sets are also growing.  Every child dreams to grow up and be the next Tiger Woods.  Every man wants to be the next Arnold Palmer.  Every woman wants to be the next LPGA champion.

The sole way to become that is to practice, practice, practice and to have a golf club set that is made for you and for your desire of this game.  Take it slow and choose smartly.

Golfing is a game that is relaxing and fun after you get the knack of it.  First make sure that you love the game enough to make an investment in the tools to play it.  Once you’ve made your purchase go out and just have some fun.

There are a lot of different things that somebody who is avid about golf can do to improve their golf game. Some strategies that you might consider, will include taking lessons from a pro, practicing on a driving range consistently, and or working out with weights to help with your upper body strength.A golfer might also choose to upgrade their golf equipment.  One way to truly upgrade those clubs is to buy a set of hybrids.

If you are going to go this route, there are number of things that you need to consider.  Some of these considerations will include learning exactly what a hybrid golf club set can do for you and how you might begin shopping for one.

Just Exactly What Is a Hybrid Golf Club Set?

A hybrid golf club set is a newer style of golf clubs that are designed to improve an individual’s golf game.  Hybrid golf clubs are specifically a blending of the strengths that many of your traditional types of golf clubs possess.  Generally, those two components of a golf club that are combined together are the shaft of the golf club and the head of the golf club.

Therefore, a hybrid gold club set utilizes a shorter shaft and a golf head that is not rounded and does not bulge out.  The resulting golf drive utilizing a hybrid golf club is usually more controlled which results in a longer and more accurate drive in distance.

These clubs are also manufactured so that they have a center of gravity that is lower than ordinary clubs. Also, this lower center of gravity is more to the back of the head of the club.  This all combines to provide the potential of helping to provide significant lift to launch the golf ball.

How To Shop For A Hybrid Golf Club Set

There are a lot of ways that you can purchase a hybrid golf club set. Some of the places that you could shop are at a golf pro shop, your typical golf course, or online.

If you make the decision to shop for your hybrid set online, you are going to want to take into consideration a number of things.  Those considerations include making sure that product that is being considered for purchase is a quality product and that the website is reputable as well.

How to Grip the Golf Club

November 6, 2009 by Ram

The grip seems very basic, but could very well be the most important part of the swing.Improper tension in your golf grip can throw your entire swing off.An improper grip can impede accuracy, and the shaping of shots by advanced golfers.

There are primarily two types of grips that a golfer should use, and neither of them is a hand-over-hand baseball, or axe handle, grip. The hands interlock where the left index finger slides between the ring and pinkie fingers of the right hand. The left index finger will lay on top of the right pinkie or on top of ht notch between the pinkie and ring fingers, this is the overlapping grip. The grips encourage the hands to steady the club throughout the swing.

The grip should begin about one finger width from the end of the club, or more, for shorter controlled shots.  When the hands are together, the club should lie along the callous pad line of the hands and not in the palms.  When the hands are closed around the club, the thumbs should be aligned straight down the club grip. You will want to form a V with your forearms down toward the club.

Your grip should be firm enough to keep the club from moving in your hands, but otherwise very loose.Don't tighten your grip through the swing, keep the "loose grip" in our mind throughout.  Because there is no rulebook on the grip, it is just one of those aspects of the game that the golfer will have to experiment with, and adjust, through repetitive practice and play.

Through practice, the grip is something that should become second nature to the golfer. It should not be overthought, but it is very important.  It is recommended that a golfer always keep a club nearby, and just practice applying and reapplying the grip over and over.

A Golf Weight Training Program, do You Fear ?

Golf weight training program. Eew issues have come as close to being controversial as golf weight training programs have, in a sport that hardly has any controversies . More so amateur and non-professional golfers.

And yet if you really examine the facts, a golf weight training program need not be controversial at all.

Although professionals have now fully embraced the benefit of golf weight training programs, amongst the other golfers golf weight training programs are still looked on with a lot of fear and apprehension. These fears are of course mainly based on ignorance rather than enough solid facts and knowledge.

Some of the golf weight training programs designed to build strength are too strenuous, that is one of the greatest fears . Others fear that they will develop great big muscles that will make them stiff and yet flexibility is an important attribute for any golfer.

These fears are of course completely unjustified. Most golf weight training programs have been successfully completed by golfers who are as old as 80 years old. Junior golfers barely in their teens have also graduated from the same programs without any problems. Not to mention ladies golfers some of who are senior citizens.

Golf weight training programs are designed to increase strength and not to body build or build great huge muscles, then it is significant to note . The use of dumbbells is different for two different objectives. For example lighter weights are used and they are lifted more times than the case will be for a bodybuilder dealing in much heavier weights.

Many good golf will also include certain stretch exercises using them on their weight training programs involving dumbbells . Stretch exercises are very good in improving golf swings.

When you take a closer look, golf weight training programs are really not be feared. Rather they should be embraced as they have helped many golfers revolutionize their games.

There is no doubt that the importance of a golf weight training program will continue to rise in the years to come.

Davids Useful And Easy Guidelines To Abide By While You Are Purchasing Ladies Golf Club Sets

The quality of your golf club set can really alter the way you play and how much fun you can have.  There have been many inventions in ladies’s golfing club design and production over the last several years.  It’s a smart idea to find out a bit about your options before deciding which kind will be the best match for your game.

The first step in getting your new set of ladies’ golfing clubs ought to be to stop by your local golf specialty store.  Most stores nowadays will have a golf simulator where they ask you to take a practice swing using both an iron and a wood.  The simulator will look at your swing style and provide pointer as to which kinds of clubs are better for you.  Ladies golf club sets are smaller and lighter than men’s clubs and have a tendency to be a miles better fit for women’s body shape and style of play.

The person fitting you for golfing clubs will likely need to learn a little bit about you as a player.  They will want to know your handicap, your weaknesses and strengths as a player, and how long you have been playing.  Women usually do best with smaller lighter clubs that have the majority of their weight round the perimeter of the hitting area.  It’s a smart idea to buy woods that are lighter than normal.  This will help to give you good club head speed.

women golfing clubs need to be properly fitted to feel good when you’re playing.  The fitter will need to measure your height, the length of your arms, and the distance between the ground and your wrists.  All of these numbers will be used to pinpoint the proper size for your new women golf clubs.  The reality is that the distance between your wrists and the ground is the most significant measurement.  Taller golfers will not necessary have to have longer clubs.

5 Ways To Enjoy Golf More

October 31, 2009 by Ram

Some times it is just as they say, a good walk spoiled, but we all love the game of golf. Here are a few ways to enjoy golf more.

  • Do not play the blue tees.

Unless you are at least a 10 handicap or lower, why bother making the golf course even harder than it has to be. If you are shooting in the 90’s or triple digits, it makes no sense making a conscious decision to making the course more difficult.Played the white tees and took the extra levels of anxiety out of the equation.

  • Improve your lie

There is no way you should be playing the strict rules of golf, when you are having a recreational round of golf. The average round of golfs would be at least six hours at courses all over the world.  Golfers would be returning to the tees all day after hitting there first ball out bounds, or searching for every lost ball for 5 minutes.

So if we are bending the rules to save time, why not bend them to improve your lie, something you can actually benefit from. All time play winter rules.

  • Do not play same games

Instead playing the same match with your buddies, compete in other categories other than score.  Some examples would be:

Most fairways hit

Least amount of 3 putts

Most 1 putts

  • If it is your honor, take it.

You just birdie the hardest (or easiest) hole on the golf course, it was your tee, you earned it, took it. Challenge yourself to get another one, you will be surprised how often you can have two birdies in a row if you are actually trying to get  two birdies in a row.

  • Lower of wise.

You don’t practice as much as you should, if you are a average golfer you play golf twice per week if you’re lucky, on top of that.. your game is not exactly what it would be if you can’t honestly think.

Don’t be so hard on yourself when you’re not playing well, just enjoy the game itself. Even the pros hasn’t good day.
